The application of valine

2022/04/26

Valine deficiency is not uncommon. When valine is insufficient, the function of the central nervous system will be disordered, with ataxia and tremor of the limbs. Through dissecting and sectioning brain tissue, it is found that there is degeneration of red nuclear cells. Patients with advanced liver cirrhosis are prone to form hyperinsulinemia due to liver damage, resulting in a decrease in blood branched-chain amino acids and the ratio of branched-chain amino acids to aromatic amino acids is changed from that of ordinary people. From 3.0 to 3.5 to 1.0 to 1.5, branched-chain amino acid injections such as valine are often used to treat liver failure and the damage to these organs caused by alcohol and drug abuse.

The main application of valine

Valine is one of the three primary branched-chain amino acids. It is a sugar-producing amino acid mainly metabolized by the glucose pathway after oxidative dehydrogenation. It works with leucine (ketogenic amino acid) and isoleucine (sugar-generating and ketogenic amino acid). It interacts with the tricarboxylic acid cycle to realize the transformation of the body's three major nutrients (protein, sugar, and fat). It has the physiological functions of oxidizing energy supply, promoting protein synthesis, inhibiting protein degradation, and promoting gluconeogenesis and plays a vital role in biological applications.

1. Amino acid drugs

Valine is one of the three branched-chain amino acids and is an essential amino acid. It can be combined with other essential amino acids to prepare amino acid infusions and comprehensive amino acid preparations. It can treat liver failure and central nervous system dysfunction.

2. Feed additives

① Adding L-valine to the diet of lactating livestock can increase lactation. When lysine levels are high, valine will become the first restricted amino acid.

②Improve the immune function of the animal body. Valine can promote the conversion of animal bone cells into mature T cells. When animals lack valine, the ability to synthesize specific antibodies will decrease, and the antibody response of the virus

3. Nutritional supplements

It can be used as a food additive. Valine (1g/kg) is added to rice cakes. The product has a sesame fragrance. It can also improve the flavor when used in bread.
